तलाश – The Search….

ऐ मालिक, तेरे तलाश में निकल पड़ा था

गलियों में, चौराहो में,

किताबों के पन्नो में, कोहरे के धुंध में,

समुन्दर की गहराइयो में, आकाश की ऊंचाइयों में,

तन्हाई और ख़ामोशी में,

वाद विवाद में, गुणीजनों के सांगत में,

मंदिर, मस्जिद और गिरिजाघरों में,

हर जगह ढूँढा तुझे,

तपस्या की, आराधना की,

पर आँखों से ओझल रहा  तू .

 

फिर हुआ एक अजूबा, ज़िन्दगी ने तुझसे मिला दिया,

समझ गया मैं, कि तू बसता है हर दिल में,

हर रचना में, तेरी हर  सृष्टि में,

सूरज की रोशनी में,  चन्द्रमा की चांदनी में,

खेतो खलियानो में, बदलती ऋतुओ में,

हर प्यार भरे स्पर्श में, माँ के आँचल में,

लोगों के मुस्कानों में, बुज़ुर्गों के आशीर्वाद में,

हर अनाज के दाने में, हर पानी के बूँद में,

तू बसता है हर अच्छाई में, मानवता में,

हे सृष्टि के निर्माता , जब तू है चारो ओर,

न जाने मेरी आँखें तुझे क्यों न पहचान सकी?

जब आँखों से गुर्रूर का  परदा हट गया,

तब दर्शन और एहसास हुआ तेरा.

ऐ मालिक, तुझे इस नाचीज़ का शत शत प्रणाम!

 

The Search

O lord, I set out in search of you

in the lanes and by lanes,

in the pages of books, in the blanket of fog,

in the depths of the ocean, in the expanse of the sky

in solitude and in silence.

In discourses and in the company of wise men,

in temples, mosques and churches.

I looked for you every where.

I meditated and prayed,

but you remained elusive!

 

It was magical when life introduced you to me

I realized that you reside in every heart!

In every composition, in all your creations.

In the rays of the sun, in the moonlight,

in the fields, in the changing seasons.

In every touch full of love, in mother’s care,

in the smiles of  people, in the blessings of  elders,

in every grain of rice , in every drop of water

you reside in every kind act, in humanity.

O the Creator of the universe, when you are all around

I wonder why my eyes failed to recognize you?

It was only when I shed my veil of ignorance,

I saw and experienced you.

O lord, please accept my humble salutations!
