Hakuna Matata – Means no worry!

Have you ever thrown a stone into a tranquil lake and observed the ripples it creates? I am sure many of us have done that. Worrying creates ripples of anxiety and tension in our minds. The mind likes to anchor itself to the known and predictable. Since it is unable to envisage the future, it sets sail in the ocean of worries often having to deal with rough weather in the form of negative energies.

“Worrying is a total waste of time. It doesn’t change anything. All it does is steal your joy and keep you very busy doing nothing. “

Worrying or getting tense was something that used to come so easily to me that it almost became second nature to me. Being the perfectionist that I am, I would endlessly think about the outcome of a particular issue and start my worrying timer with “what if”? The list of questions that followed this simple “what if” was never ending. My sister always teased me” Like a rat which digs out the mud to make a hole for itself, you keep digging out issues to worry about!”

I knew this was definitely not a good trait, and I had to do something about it.

Luckily for me, my husband has a very practical and pleasant demeanour. He does not believe in making friendship with “Mr. Worries”! His constant counselling and support helped me a great deal in breaking my long and passionate affair with worrying.  I now feel more positive and relaxed.

Some pointers which help to let go the worry syndrome:

  • Surround yourself with positive people
  • Meditate
  • Address the problem
  • Learn to let go

Doesn’t this flow chart below explain it so beautifully?

I have stopped worrying about many issues and challenges that come up in everyday life and have learnt to cross the bridge when I reach there. If there is something to be done……I do it, if it is beyond my limits just leave it at “His “feet!!

Being romantic at heart, I have now gotten into a new affair with happiness now, but my husband doesn’t mind it at all 😉 In the meanwhile let’s sing the beautiful song Hakuna Matata – Means no worry!!

  1. Your blog seems to be written for me.चिंता चिता के समान है।we all know it but we creat a imaginary world of unhappened negetive things in advance .we are lucky to have a caring hubby always there to borrow our worries and make us relaxed.😍

Really sorry I was busy with college gathering Radhika Di …wishing you a happy and prosperous New year 2017 ….working for my project during late night …Inn tense situations our mind needs to be calm and still like deep water absorbing the disturbances on the surface …it’s so nice that you learnt not to worry.
As you rightly said worrying is simply waste of time whatever may be outcome of tense situations …so hakuna matata 😃

  4. Wow, Radhika, what an amazing post!! Hakuna Matata! Gotta love Timon and Pumbaa, I love that song 😀 I’m like you, I worry a lot as well. For the most trivial of things as well as things that are definitely out of my control 😀 But it just makes us do nothing and mope around, which is not good. And can result in headaches that we’re better off not having 😀 So let’s be happy, keep smiling and sing Hakuna Matata 😉

    1. Glad that you could relate to my post Deepika. Though I was aware of all it’s negative side effects, I was never able to come out of it for so long. Only a conscious effort and good counseling helped me to a great extent. Do try to come out of your worrying mode Deepika. All the very best😊

  5. Good that you were able to get rid of this… My mom is exactly like that, worries a lot for even the smallest thing… Growing up seeing her for everything, and realising it’s futility, I try not to worry much… But to be honest, it’s not easy!! And that pic was too good!

  6. What a welcome article for 2017 Radhika. I’m going to share it with my daughter. Being a very positive person I worry less but my daughter and husband keeps on worrying for nothing. At times it is very difficult to calm them down. I hope this reading will help them both! Thanks a lot for sharing 😃💖

  7. Hakuna Matata! That is a super way to address worrisome woes. Loved your sister’s example too. We often let the problem take over our life and us eventually yielding no fruits other than some more worries. So glad you had your husband to eventually made you look into the same issues with just a different perspective.
    Hakuna Matata, once again! 🙂
