Tick Tock Tick Tock

My son, with the timer running and the sound of clicetky-clack was a common sight I regularly witnessed, when he fell in love with the Rubik’s cube as an 8th grader. With YouTube as his tutor, he became a devoted pupil. Initially solving it was a great achievement for him. But then, he challenged himself to solve it along with the timer. Taking over 2 minutes to solve in the early days, the ticking timer and the cube became his constant companions. He mastered the algorithms to crack it faster. He put the proverb “Practice makes man perfect” to the best use, mastering the art of solving it in about 12-13 seconds a few years back.  A pro at multi-tasking, he solves it in one hand too and sometimes attempts to solve it blindfolded. He was a proud participant in many competitions with commendable achievements. His name also features in the Limca Book for the National record in India’s Largest Cube Art with 8000+ Rubik’s cubes. Now his busy schedule does not permit him the luxury of free time, yet he doesn’t let go his friendship with the timer and the cube. It’s always a pleasure watching him enjoy his triumph over the ticking timer!

Gist of it is, Improving your time in any field fills you with a sense of accomplishment!

  2. Congratulations to the proud Mommy and her brilliant sonny! That is amazing, Radhika and to feature in the Limca Book is a proud moment indeed and to attempt at it blindfolded shows that he pushes his limits! All the very best for more achievements to him!
The way you have brought out the essence of his wisdom is beautiful. Time is indeed critical in even in the small aspects of life. I have also read that putting a timer on most of your activities leaves you finishing your tasks effectively and on time giving you your much-deserved free time!
A super and inspiring article, Radhika!
