Today’s challenge:
Given to you are five haiku’s. Pick any one and write your interpretation to it. You can build a story and make the haiku part of it. You can continue the haiku and make another poem out of it. Let the creativity wander and hunt it down the way you want.
The haiku I chose for the challenge is :
Haiku 05
past hosted party,
gave future as the present,
present is partying.

past hosted party,
gave future as the present,
present is partying
amid all the music and dance
free flow of chatter
the past clung on
to the future all night
a squabble ensued
the past didn’t let go
the future filled with fear
each wanting to prove a point
the blame game continued
without a consensus
that they forgot to enjoy the present!
Isn’t it an irony of life that we hold on to the past, are apprehensive of the future and in the bargain forget to live and enjoy the present?
very true! sometimes the past is so compelling we tend to hold on to it forgetting that neither the past nor future is what is, but what we are living now… Good day Radhika.

We all are! But the last does make a foundation but then there are times when it has to be left behind to build the upper storeys!

Only with that awareness we can move ahead and build on!

All scriptures all wise books keeps on telling us live in present but this mind tricks us. All our life we either cling to past or day dream future losing all connection and peace of present. Beautifully described Radhika 👍

Yes Meenakshi. Unfortunately our memories and thoughts constantly juggle between the past and the future. The present gets sacrificed in the bargain.

That was a meaningful ‘present’ of the haiiku. So very enjoyed reading this extension.
It carries a message to glorify the present.. 🙂

Radhika so very true, totally agree with our Past, Present and Future. Sometimes the past is so compelling we tend to hold on to it forgetting that there is no past nor future only the present which is so beautiful. Great poem.
