Write a story in 100-150 (+/- 25 ) words on the picture prompt given. Challenge hosted by Priceless Joy
Time just flies isn’t it? The day is etched so vividly in my memory. The first time I brought my son here when he was just a toddler of two. These steps and I together taught him to count numbers. We would jump on to each step and call out the number. My son was so fascinated and happy to be here and learn his numbers, that it became an everyday ritual for us. Addition, subtraction and different concepts, we learnt it all together! He fell in love with numbers and became adept at it. When he started school he was far ahead of the other boys and girls of his class. We continued this ritual without fail during his holidays.
Today many seasons later, he reached the pinnacle of his ascent, when he received the Fields Medal ( equivalent to Nobel) , for his outstanding contribution in the field of Mathematics. Standing here today, I am a proud father reminiscing nostalgic moments!

Good story…but I have a little bit of meh in the end…why father not mother…

Haha, thanks Sangbad. But why not a father?? Why should it always be the mother who takes time out for her children? I know many father’s today who take active interest in their child’s welfare. A big 👍 to all such fathers!!

H’m I agree with you…but this proud thing I most of time find goes to father that’s why I asked…

Times are changing now. Both the parents take equal responsibility in bringing up their children . It’s just that I put a Dad in this story. In the next one maybe the mom will be in focus!😊

What a beautiful story Radhika! I enjoyed reading it thoroughly. You have a knack for this I tell you:) ❤️I remember my mom teaching the same numbers as we walked to the bus-stop on school mornings and yes, it made sure I never forget those multiplication tables😊

That’s wonderful Divya. I have always observed that when learning is made interesting, the concepts all make a permanent mark in the minds of children.
Thank you dear ☺️

In school I used to dread Math subject as the teachers were strict and rude. My son loves this subject . i feel good now.

Thanks so much Kalpana. As a student I too was not very good at math. I guess if we are lucky enough to get a good teacher, we end up falling in love with the subject. Glad that your son enjoys math.
Will definitely check out your post! Thanks a lot for stopping by 😊

Wonderful story! He nurtured his son to love numbers and he therefore became a genius at it! There was a woman that recently passed away from cancer that had received the Field Award. I think it was the Field Award.

Thank you Joy. Yes it was Maryam Mirzakhani, the Iranian who succmbed to cancer a few days back. She had received the Field medal in 2014.

What a lovely story, Radhika. It was the end that grabbed my attention. Like you have explained it need not be the mother always who has to take that ‘extra’ effort for their children. A winning tale, Radhika 🙂

Thanks a lot for the appreciation Pranitha. People generally believe it is mostly the mother’s efforts in the child’s success. But I feel a father too has a very major role to play in it.

Absolutely, it is both their efforts together that makes the upbringing of a child whole.
