Endangering Earth…

In response to Brenda’s wordle #418.

Write a prose or a poem using some or all of the words given.

Global warming, rising ocean levels, climate change, water crisis, forest fires are terms that have become common parlance today. What was earlier ignorance is now over powered by man’s greed, in plundering nature’s resources for his benefit. The adverse impact of this reckless behavior is escalating to be a very alarming situation. If man continues to ravage earth’s reserves at this rate, life on this planet is definitely numbered.  The only solution lies in ending our cruelty to nature, help her reinstate her lost glory and leave behind a planet worthy of living for our children.

Song of Nature!

IMAG0159

Verdant patches of lush foliage greet me,

on a drive across the countryside

the landscape adorns itself

in boundless hues of green

the once dusty wilted stems

paled under the scorching heat

now comes alive.

Soaked and satiated,

the trees swing in gay abandon.

The showers from heavenly skies

grace the earth with magic, as

the rains sing a pleasant melody

called the song of nature!

Paradise!

The shimmering velvety sea

relaxes under the gentle rays of the sun

wisps of clouds stray in the canopy of blue

the endless horizon lost in a reverie

listening to the tales of the zephyr

the fresh ocean scent lingers on

slumbering waves, in its sapphire robe

 embrace the shore, kissing it

A panoramic vista of serenity

envelopes a sense of calm

opening the gateway to paradise!

Yeh hai Mumbai Meri Jaan…

Was drenched in a wave of nostalgia, as I visited Mumbai last week after 16 long years….a city where I spent a good part of my growing up years! Nothing much had changed….only more people, more vehicles, more buildings…..but yet there is something magical about this city!

Weary feet tread along,

the wheels always on the move

carry the burdened shoulders, without a smirk

waves crash against the shore, with a sense of urgency

time and tide wait for none here.

Aspiring dreams find wings to soar

the glitz and glamour bedazzle the naked eye

there is a seamless amalgam of food, religion and people

the grandeur of festive celebrations is unparalleled.

Mafia and the underbelly, a dark reality

fragmented destinies lie scattered

rains and resilience flow together

sweaty brows overpower the fragrant scents

silhouettes stand tall against the swarm of slums.

A city that never sleeps

is defined by extreme contrasts

yet, boasts of a magnanimous character

as it embraces all into its fold!

Random Musings….

Violin, Man, Music, Concert, Mannequin, Ear, Listen

खुशियों में दिल गीत के धुन गुनगुनाता है,
लेकिन ग़म में बोल, रूह को छू जाते है|

In happiness, man enjoys the melody of a song

but when he is sad, it is the lyrics that his soul feels.

Gratitude!

A pilot for a decade now, this was a routine sortie for Jim. The sudden technical snag led the chopper to nose dive. Experience helped him crash land safely.

The brush with death changed his perspective to life. He started living each day of life to the fullest, with gratitude!
