The initial few years of marriage was bliss for Ron and Uma. Slowly Ron got sucked into the virtual web, that he found it impossible to come out of it. Unable to continue a life with him, Uma filed for a divorce on the grounds that he had turned a “technoholic”!

Do you agree….?

In today’s world, technology has made inroads into every household and is indispensable. While one can’t deny its myriad benefits, to use it wisely is something we need to learn. Like quicksand we are getting sucked into its web, ignoring a life beyond it. In many cases it is taking a toll on our social and personal life. Lets work towards keeping it a boon and before it turns into a bane!

  1. I wholeheartedly agree, Radhika! What never fails to astonish me is the number of times my husband and I are out for dinner and at tables around the restaurant are couples, glued to their own phones, totally ignoring each other! Even whilst eating! A sad reflection of the state of the world and relationships as a whole!

    1. I have also observed this during one of our travels Annika. The place was so scenic and beautiful but instead of soaking in the nature’s beauty, people were glued to their phones. Sadly technology has taken over every aspect of our lives today diluting the essence of all relationships.

      1. Radhika, what a beautiful phrase: ‘the essence of all relationships’ – even your comments are filled with poetry! I’ll remember this … and ensure to treasure that essence of relationships and friendships too.

  2. I agree with you, R – there is a fine line separating necessity and addiction, you never know when you cross it. And if both partners are caught in the technoweb, it could be too late by the time that they are even aware that they have been sucked too far in. Yes, it is a tough ask in the current age and demands, but we need to step back and take a long, hard look at the bare necessities of life…

  3. Yes, this is so true. With this world getting more connected technically we are getting disconnected from each other. The best way is to set boundaries so that neither of them is affected. No screen time on the dinner table, family time sans screen, etc.
