यह है ज़िन्दगी – This is life!

ग़म के भोज तले, ऐ दिल तू क्यों रोता है?

वक़्त ने सबके दामन में भरे है

कुछ पल हस्सी के, कुछ ग़म के

कल को नरम धुप के किरणें लहरायेंगे

खुशियों की क्यारी खिल खिलाएगी

ज़िन्दगी का यही दस्तूर है

थोड़े ग़म है, थोड़ी ख़ुशी!

 

O heart! why do you shed tears,

when overwhelmed by grief?

Time has distributed a fair share

of sadness and happiness to all

Tomorrow, the nascent rays of the sun, shall shine

the garden of happiness will blossom

this is the way of life

there is always some sadness and happiness!
