Prejudiced!

three line tales, week 231: the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset

Watching the eventide in all its glory, set Ann thinking.

Man travels miles, to admire and soak in the resplendent beauty of nature’s magical hues, with absolute acceptance, without any conditions what so ever.

Then why is it that the same man judges a fellow human being, by his color, looks and success?

In response to Sonya’s Three line tale #231.

  1. But who is the man here? The one who is born, and then dies? or do you refer to the mind which is prone to a huge range of emotions every day? If you refer to such a “changing phenomenon”, it doesn’t surprise that he judges other human beings, no?

    1. Man mirrors his mind . If his mind mirror is tainted, then his behaviour and attitude reflects a biased view on how he sees his fellow men. Very few look beyond this exterior.
Thanks V for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

  2. Well said Radhika. Just as the body covers the soul and the skin covers the body, we should ignore the cover of prejudiced notions which makes distinctions of the same goodness within…

  3. I pondered on this for quite a while. Why, indeed, R? What is it that makes our thoughts so biased? Why do we assume and presume? Can we find the answers within ourselves through meditation and reflection? I will need to ask myself…

    1. That’s good question N…why? Definitely it’s time we pose this to ourselves. The concept of colour and caste has been deep rooted in our society since centuries. We simply are following this absurdity.
Awareness, meditation, reflection… whatever approach we may adopt finally should lead us to acceptance of mankind as one, sans conditions.

  4. Nice juxtaposition between the love of colors in nature in contrast the loving of and “acceptance” of other’s skin color. Love phrases like “eventide” and “nature’s magical hues”. You do a great job of crafting thoughtful expressions in few words. And, I think we have been taught/learned many bad habits and opinions that will take many more years to undo. Sometimes we forget that our blood flows the same color, no matter what part of the world you’re from.
