Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “new/old.” Use either or both of the words “new and old” any way you’d like. Bonus points for starting and ending with either one. Have fun!
Old traditions die as modernity takes over
Old technology fades as new ones erase their entity
Old structures demolished as sky scrapers change the landscape
Old healthy food habits replaced by new instant junk
Old sustainable living dislodged to the new concept of use and throw
Old repository of minimalistic approach to life conquered by the new materialistic culture
Why can’t we blend the best of the old and new to create balanced habitat?
Those are such amazing takes, Radhika! Love them!

Interesting takes Radhika! Change is inevitable, but sometimes things do change for worse.

Thanks Deb. Change is wonderful as long as it does not make us worse off than before. Seriously, while technology has made life so much better, it has brought with it a bag full of serious side effects.

I think we can balance both, agree with it. Point to ponder!

It’s really a battle of the old and the new. It’s a battle of generations as well like what we’re currently having: Boomers vs Millennials vs Gen Z.

I agree Joana. It’s just that, why do we discard the old so easily rather than complementing the new or mordern along side, with it?

I know right? It’s always a battle of generations 😅🤷🏻♀️

Very creative and yes why can’t we not blend all the old and new within our world and live a happy and contented life. Lovely poem, Radhika.

Haha, no Meenakshi. I am no solution giver… This is something many of us feel, is to have the best of old and modern balance in harmony. But thanks for always believing in my work. ❣️

Wonderful comparison and so well concluded Radhika. Putting the best of two scenarios for a beautiful flower is definitely required.

Beautifully written, Radika! Furnishing a room all in antiques would be too static! All new needs a little soul! ❤ Take care. Cheryl

This is a very thoughtful examination of the human mentality. I always thought the blending of old and new is best. For instance, natural cures and modern medicine. I think both have a place. The future should always come with some part of the past.

Exactly my point Ben. While new is good, it should complement the old and not completely discard it. Like in case of medicines you rightly said, the old has such a vast storehouse of natural cure. A balance between the two is the key!
