Insipid Life!

Once upon a time, a vivacious girl was she.

Jewels of happy times dazzled her cache of memories.

Her persona emanated a sprightly laughter,

until the pandemic struck.

Locked down within the four walls,

online, virtual space conquered her life.

With friends and family imprisoned on the screen

tentacles of loneliness clasped her breath.

Silent voices screamed within her head,

with thoughts, lost in the labyrinth of anxiety.

Her once effervescent soul, today is anemic.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced schools, colleges and educational institutions to shut down since March last year. At an age when the primary fulfilling factor is interaction with classmates and enjoying school-life, a shutdown has wreaked havoc in the daily life of students. We have seen an alarming rise in the mental health problems faced by them. Acknowledging this issue with timely treatment can make a significant difference in helping them cope better with the situation.

“Experts from various fields have come in to assess and understand this bizarre structure.

What is this? After Covid 19, now what is the world going to be gripped by?” Blared the news reporter into the camera.

Unspoken Words!

It’s been an year since I published my maiden poetry and haiku book titled “Eclectic Verses”. Thank you for the wonderful response and feedback many of you have shared with me. Sharing one of the poems from the book. Do read it if you haven’t done so as yet. Sharing the link for the book at the end.

At times silence speaks volumes

the sublime conversations

whispers the language of love

narrates the saga of implicit verses.

Eyes drown in your bewitching allure

the face buried in your lustrous tresses

the words unable to fathom the feeling

of those beautiful moments of silence.

Under the effulgent moonlight

the hearts wallow in the beauty,

with you, hand in hand

entwined with some unspoken words.

The journey to “Now”!

Psychology, Mind, Thoughts, Thought, Fear, Head, Ideas
Elisa Rive@pixabay.com

The feral mind refuses to be tamed

it forays into the past

latches on to the unpleasant memories

digs out hurt and scars afresh.

Then it dashes to the future, unabashed

dwells on worries unknown

embraces an incredulous streak.

As it oscillates between the past and the future

drowning in the torrent of thought’s flow,

I navigate, to harness it in the path

of living in the present.

The task has been daunting

but the efforts worth it,

transcending my life beyond imagination

to the boundless blessings of ” Now”!

The Missing Pieces of Life!

Ross Sneddon@unsplash

On some days

I ride on the wave of optimism

drift like the dandelion wisps

with my meandering thoughts

sprightly, in gay abandon, across oceans.

On some days

I bury myself within a shell

hiding from the world,

protecting my fragile heart

from the emotional attacks.

On some days

I juggle between the many roles I play

bogged down by the gravity of relationships,

ensuing in a clash between

my outward façade and inner core.

The summations of all experiences

have moulded me into who I am,

I learn, unlearn, falter, and assimilate

seek to be a better version of me,

In pursuit of self-realisation

I don a reflective mood,

yet the answers elude me.

I strive hard to fit in the jigsaw pieces

to complete my role, in the enigma called life

but, find some pieces still missing in the frame.

Changing Face of Time!

three people standing inside Big Ben building
Erik Witsoe@unsplash

Life took its first breath eons ago

traversing on its path of evolution since.

A multitude of changes ensued,

with time, the only constant.

This journey witnessed a change in man’s perception of time,

from sceptical approximations to a profound science.

With concrete theories postulated about its origin

measurement of time evolved too.

A day seemed to have a lot more time then,

relaxed carefree moments, now only a memory.

Days and years, a lose connotation of time in history,

is now dissected to milli, micro and nano seconds,

precision being paramount.

Today time’s shadow, has eclipsed man’s life.

His journey from the cradle to grave

is a constant run against the clock

that oscillates between the hanging dagger of time.

Enlightening Beauties!

I sit by the lake for hours watching

nature’s exquisite craftsmanship

that rise from the murky waters

yet, are a flawless blossom.

The myriad petals unfurl

 in synchronized poise,

with nimble balletic grace.

The floating beauties cast a spell,

intoxicating me in sensory rapture,

infusing a serene aura around.

It triggers a contemplative thought

as an enlightening moment dawns.

Despite the flawed exteriors

real beauty emanates from within.

I do away with the urge to focus on the external,

 indulge in cleansing my soul,

feeding it with bountiful fill of zen .

Haibun – Winter Glory!

I look out of the window and I am mesmerised by the sight that beholds me. My eyes feast on an expanse of pearly opulence, studded with iridescent streaks. The snow clad serrated peaks, reflect in a contemplative mood. A rainbow ribbon swirl, wraps the billowy clouds to form an enigmatic pattern in the twilight sky. Its prismatic reflection gleams on the lake. The icy winds hum a frosty tune, lining the landscape with crystalline confetti. Beams of silver moonlight make a glistening motif on earth’s alabaster bosom. Nature’s heartbeat echoes, in all its resplendent winter glory.
