Finally, At Peace!

The life’s song played dissonant chords

fragments of musical dreams scattered,

steps faltered, leaving hazy footprints

under the umbrage of smoky youthful frolic.

At the fag end of a frosty journey,

I reminisce on the missed opportunities,

rueful morose fills me,

tears of regret mist my eyes.

Finally, the lost music redeems my errant heart,

the strings of melody balms my broken soul,

ripples of repentance and acceptance mingle,

Today, I make peace with my past.

  2. Looking back on life with sadness and regret, uplifted at the last with the determination to ‘make peace with my past.’ An important lesson, so well expressed. More wonderful words, Radhika! 🙂

  3. This is the sad truth of so many wasted lives. So many journeys that go wayward, and not always through their fault also. I really like it how you induce a happy ending where the acceptance balms the pained mind, how it ends on a positive note. Wish more and more souls could make peace with themselves like this.
Moody poem Radhika, stirs raw emotions, and a note to many of us to take a corrective step today than regret tomorrow.

    1. Though, immensely talented and intelligent, some lives just derail from the tracks. Later at some point in time, to make that transition back on track can be very difficult and daunting to them. From whatever little I have observed from life, a person who despite all the challenges, can make that cross over, is able to let go of his regrets and make peace with his past and move on.
Thanks so much Deb for your observation and feedback. Much appreciate it.

  4. Super brilliant opening: The life’s song played dissonant chords / fragments of musical dreams scattered, / steps faltered, leaving hazy footprints / under the umbrage of smoky youthful frolic.” Outstanding, really!

  5. Loved every line of it. Your poems are something I didn’t know I needed. Heals the soul on a spiritual level. Just as the “broken dreams” part of the poem started painting desolation, the hopeful ending fixed it and made my day! So very glad I found your site. 🤍

  6. I loved the diction and imagery in your poetry – it simply melts off of the tongue. I feel like all of us will be facing a similar dilemma later on in life. We must all gaze back into the abyss of our past and accept the things we didn’t do and make peace with what we did. Thank you so much for sharing, I truly enjoyed this.
