First Rains!

Rain Stoppers, Water, Window Pane, Drip, Drop Of Water

Drifting clouds oblige, puff up to a dark grey

tender pearls gently kiss the parched land

each drop bequeaths a cool ambiance,

whispers a promise of nourishment.

Scents of petrichor fills in the sensory delight

dry summer foliage washed anew, now reflects a shimmery gloss

the green boughs sway to the percussion of the pitter patter,

earthlings celebrate the nectar of nature’s magic!

Eugi’s weekly prompt : Nature

  1. What a refreshing poem Radhika, as soothing and moody as the scent of after rains! The monsoons are currently delayed in my place, the green boughs are dust laden, and I do hope my horizon too sees some dark rain clouds which oblige with some hearty showers.
    Have a great weekend Radhika!

  2. A delightful poem, Radikha! We are also beginning our rainy season in Florida, and coming out of a drought. The brown grass is rapidly turning green. Rain is so refreshing to the land and the spirit. Your poem really does it justice! ❀

  4. Hey! So glad I found your blog! Mine is so similar to yours!(except, I illustrate my posts with my artworkπŸ˜ƒ)
I believe that writing on rain is a poet’s pass to poetry. You have expressed your thoughts so beautifully! And such amusing use of poetic devices!

  5. I imagine, writing on monsoon rains could be the deepest most emotions as it is never just rain but whole world of clouds, the movement of the world under. The shades and color that comes with it, staying for days and always almost every monsoons takes us to the moments which seldom appear invisibly in front of our eyes every year. It is a beautiful time to come. And Here we too are waiting in the north.

    Have a beautiful day Radhika

    1. Thanks for sharing your emotions with the rains Narayan. To me, rains nourish and revive nature and man. They do a splendid make over and rejuvenation of our landscape which we shamelessly keep depleting. They are an excellent muse to poets, artists and the romantic hearts. Rains spell magic and are truly the elixir of life.
Hope your wait for the rains isn’t a long one. Have a lovely evening πŸ™‚

  6. β€œThe best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.” β€œDo not, on a rainy day, ask your child what he feels like doing, because I assure you that what he feels like doing, you won’t feel like watching.” β€œOne thing a mother must always save for a rainy day is patience.
