Photography – Orange

You paint the horizon with your benign warmth,

fill in a burst of sunshine, to delight the tropical hues,

mandarin, marmalade, peach or tangerine,

you reflect a perfect glow across the color spectrum.

Will you ever learn?

Through the lens of the dog…

Oh Man! You are the dumbest species I have seen.

Your insensitive attitude towards your home, your planet continues to baffle me.

You build vast technology driven systems, things work at the press of a button, yet you seem to have lost the connect with your life.

The buildings you construct kiss the sky, but from above, you’ve failed to keep tab on the ground realities that are so vital for survival.

You bulldoze the greens in the name of development, failing to realize that you are axing the supply of air needed for your children tomorrow.

Money, power and expansion seems to be your only mantra, forgetting the core values of humanity.

With medical advancement, sadly the lines at hospitals have also grown longer.

Gadgets seem to control your lives, people hardly matter.

Climate change, covid, growing inequality, water shortage, increasing pollution and plastic choking all seem to attract headlines as breaking news or conclude in conclaves of world dignitaries to meet and discuss. Most times the measures to curb the problems are just on paper.

Man, why do you not learn from the catastrophes that have befallen you? I am indeed appalled at your callousness.

We animals may not be as intelligent as you are, but we are definitely wiser.

You live as if there is no tomorrow.  Hope your children don’t pay the price of your mistakes.

Oh Man, Will you ever learn?

Fettered Memories!

Gary Meulemans@unsplash.com

Somewhere in the deep crevices of my heart

percolating through the filters of thoughts, are scars hiding.

Though inconspicuous, they linger on, haunting me.

At the slightest trigger,  they elicit painful ripples,

mutating into a tempestuous ordeal.

I know not, how to release the hurt,

which seems to have imprisoned itself within me.

I wish the rains would wash them clean

or they would flow away in a burst of lachrymose deluge.

Perhaps the intense heat of the sun would burn them down

or I could just delete them with the press of a button.

Alas, the venomous fangs of toxic memories concocts its poison,

as a sinister vortex of diabolic emotion sucks me into it,

entrapping my mind, in a self-created web of despondency,

Eggcellent Strategy!

Listen well, while I tell you a story of a mom and her son at the breakfast table, once upon a time!

A picky eater and a tantrum thrower at hands, left the mom eggasperated.

To create some eggcitement, she thought out of the box,

donned an ingenious artistic armor, creating eggceptional anecdotes.

One day it was the happy Eggy, And the next day, scary Eggard.

Each morn, an eggelicious story unfolded from her repertoire.

And then, her boy ate the eggs, happily ever after!

Gustatory Indulgence!

The pack of freshly baked donuts on the table,

entice me with their alluring flavors,

delighting my senses with heavenly aroma.

Classic, cinnamon and coffee work their magic on me,

as my will power melts under their saccharine glaze.

I succumb to the temptation of a sinful indulgence.

I gently pick up one, inhaling its flavorsome redolence.

The sugary sprinkles peck my lips, with a flirtatious tease.

A bite into the soft glazed buns, leaves me in raptures.

I revel in the tantalizing effect it has on my taste buds.

Satiated, my mouth drools a dulcet harmony.

Well, I guess I am forgiven

for committing adultery with my diet plan.

It was after all, just a onetime scrumptious affair!

This week’s host Tina invites you in exploring places and things that have seen better days!

Vagaries of time

tale of withering beauty

skeletal whispers

Back then, I am sure this typewriter typed at lightning speed, bringing out emotions on paper!

What a beauty she must have been in her hey days!

The green elixir today dies a slow death at the hands of man!
Ah, it must have dressed many a beautiful ladies back in time!
The primeval soul of the ruins, today holds many a secret within them!
