An Unusual Bond!

He connected her, to her children living in faraway lands

She showed him a life without connecting to the gadgets.

He taught her fun games to play online,

She introduced him to actual games they played as kids.

He ordered delicacies from fancy restaurant for her,

She cooked delicious home goodies for him.

He took her on a virtual tour of exotic places

She walked him to the hidden treasures of the village.

He played her favorite songs on his laptop

She sang soothing lullabies to him.

He brought the world at her doorstep with technology

She told him about her world without it.

Thus, an unusual friendship developed between

the young lad with busy parents at work

and an old woman with children far away at work!

The spotlight focuses on

an ensemble of ideas, incomplete tasks and memories,

that take center stage without an invite,

blaring their discordant voices.

With a conscious effort, I scat them away one by one,

much to my dismay, a multitude of others pop up.

The plethora of thoughts vying for attention

reverberates to a cacophonic din, unsettling my sanity.

I wish I had a CLOSE ALL tab in my brain

to shut down and restart it again!

Abloom!

From the rain drenched mud

rises a tiny bud,

its dormant beauty, encased within layers of green.

Radiant rays caress, prod it gently,

dewy drops, sprinkle showers of misty scents.

With a slow yawn, it awakens from its dreamy slumber

as the sounds of dawn play in chorus.

It unfurls its white silky petals

soaks in, the hues of a pastel palette,

sways to the balmy breeze, a lilac blush,

diffusing its ethereal fragrance.

Abloom, what a cheerful splendor!

Inspired by the lovely blooms in my pot!

The Heartbeat!

Away from the realms of the mundane

I tread beyond the path untraveled

to be surprised by magnificence extraordinaire.

Kaleidoscopic splendor greets my weary eyes

clouds weave a lyrical tapestry around serrated peaks

the winds sing ballads through the willows.

Amidst the tranquil canvas of serenity

sitting in silent reflective solitude,

I hear, the heartbeat of mother earth!

The Stolen Identity!

Traumatized by the disaster,

painful emotions besieged my core.

Beeping monitors and tubes injected,

kept me confined within the dreary hospital walls.

Surrounded by strangers fussing over me

I scanned for a familiar face, yet found none.

Paranoia left me fearing my own shadow.

Fate dealt a cruel blow,

realization dawned, that the accident had stolen

my memory, identity and my life from me!

Graceful Acceptance!

Now, at the fag end of life,

home alone, in an empty nest,

I wrestle with my waning memory, fogged under

receding hairline and furrowed brow.

Misplacing things, is a daily affair,

forgetfulness, my constant companion.

Simple tasks seem daunting,

what I did in a jiffy, now takes ages.

Today, the mirror reflects my withered shell,

but beneath it, I am still a beautiful soul.

As I glance back at the rear view mirror of life,

I have realized that, it is futile confronting the loss of youth.

In graceful acceptance of old age, with all its quirkiness,

lies the key to happiness!

connect in asunder

novelty in mundane,

If you pause and observe

there is beauty in chaos too!

Tanka – Diwali!

Pandemic days ebb

pirouetting flames of diya*

brightens festive mood

vibrant emotions dazzle

heralds celebration time

The dark shadows of the virus seem to drift away, as the winds of normalcy brings in a much-needed reprieve. With all things opening up and life returning to pre covid times, we pray for a better tomorrow. Hoping the sparkling conversations and sounds of laughter replace the din and smog of the crackers. Let’s illuminate our earth with the dazzle of love and peace.

The Diagnosis!

The diagnosis, screeched their busy schedules to a grinding halt,

causing a major upheaval, it cast a somber shadow of gloom.

Allaying their fears, they emerged from the shocking daze,

draped their pain with a tapestry of mental resilience.

Chucking their jobs, they filled their bucket list with wishes unlimited,

 set out to live the handful of remaining life, fulfilling each of them.

They traveled far and wide, discovered new facets about each other,

laughed to their hearts content, indulged in childish pranks.

In a battle against time, they walked down the reminiscent boulevard,

energizing their grieving hearts with gracious gratitude.

Savoring every moment together, they lived life to the fullest,

creating beautiful memories, before death would do them apart.
