The Stolen Identity!

Traumatized by the disaster,

painful emotions besieged my core.

Beeping monitors and tubes injected,

kept me confined within the dreary hospital walls.

Surrounded by strangers fussing over me

I scanned for a familiar face, yet found none.

Paranoia left me fearing my own shadow.

Fate dealt a cruel blow,

realization dawned, that the accident had stolen

my memory, identity and my life from me!

  1. Repeated head injuries have robbed my son of many of his memories. This is very frustrating and sad for him. Yes, it is a form of identity theft! Very well-described in your poem, Radhika. ❤

Better football helmets are being developed and tested. Wear a helmet if you are riding a motorcycle or bicycle. Drive defensively. Prevent a head injury if you can!

    1. Oh, I am so sorry to hear that Cheryl. You must have gone through some harrowing time. Hope he is doing well now.

Sadly people undermine the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a bike. Though the government here made it mandatory, there is laxity in following it.
