Finally, freed from the mortal body,

the soul travels on an astral journey,

 where endless peace envelopes it.

Through my eyes…

Corona and its impact grips the world

media spews fear in the minds of people

blowing things out of proportion.

Amidst all the negative pandemonium

they fail to highlight the rays of hope

emanating from kind souls

who reach out a helping hand,

infuse positive endurance.

I have realised, to see the world

through the people that surround me,

not through the blare of the breaking news.

The gloomy dreary morning,

predicted another dull day at work

until you walked in,

bringing in a swirl of sunshine

your dazzling smile

froze my heart beat

the scent of the wild springs

filling my heart with desires,

sanity seemed to have lost its way

in an impassioned labyrinth

your name conjured strange sensations in me

untamed like a wildfire,

the parched soul pined to hold on to you,

feel the warmth of your touch,

to drown in your beauty forever,

I must confess, it was love at first sight!

Final Countdown!

On the verge of touching base,

at the final destination of life,

I wait for the whistle to blow,

my gaze drifts across the celestial heaven.

As the soul readies to embark

into the  realms of the unknown,

the mind takes a walk down the road,

on the journey so far.

The memories kindle

a happy contented smile

that illuminates my heart!

PLAY|CITY|RANT|GRASS|WATER

In the canvas of a molten mirror

the livid sun blazes like an inferno

reflecting on the city, with its intense ire

the green grass and blue water, all dry

under its harsh umbrage.

The mute trees stand still

thirsty birds circle under its canopy

the cicada’s rant echoes, as the mercury soars

sweaty humid brows drip into a rill

children indulge in indolent play indoors.

Scorched souls with sunburned faces

wait for the summer to wane

their imploring eyes fervently look up

for some wisps of grey clouds

to shower some pearly white gems!

In robes of fresh greens

the trees stand in perfect sync

a witness to the generations grow

walking hand in hand under its canopy

privy to their candid conversations,

wary of intimate moments of solitude

holding on to  the myriad untold secrets

lending a silent ear to the

cries of the grieving souls.

The cool breeze whispers

heralding in new seasons,

nostalgic memories gently

thawed by the warm sunshine

to create new ones!

She writes her memoirs

with the ink of her tears

that pour out odious feelings

on an emotionally tainted paper.

The dark side of his personality

adorns a nefarious cloak

his wounds  scar her soul

leaving her heart broken.

Reeling under the shock of his callous behavior

the place holds painful memories

she makes a promise to her resilient spirit

to walk out, never to return.

The eerie night!

Lost in the wilderness

with no clue ,where to head

tar grey clouds brood over

damp forest floor, exudes an acrid stench

branches draw monstrous silhouettes

menacing winds croon a forbidding song

ravenous howls grow louder

a sign of looming danger

eyes move furtively in the dark

failing to find a road to escape

the probing hand feels a slimy creature

sending shivers down the spine

the screams for help, echo back

the soul held captive by fear

drenched in sweat, completely paralyzed.

“Cut”! comes in the directors call,

Smiling, with a thumbs up,

A great shot, in one take!

Pack up! He shouts!!

My dreams roughly jerked away

drifting into oblivion,

for I have to fulfil my parent’s legacy

“A family of doctors are we

and that’s what you are to be.”

my fate decided and sealed!

Sadly,

science is beyond my comprehension

while,

the world of words fascinates me

I paint my characters with ease

who come alive, as I dress them

with magical verses,

A writer is who, I aspire to be

but,

my  scarlet tears, anguished screams and earnest pleas

all fall mute to their distant ears.

My calm persona is just a facade

to hide my shattered soul

mocked and scoffed at,

helpless and hollow within,

I chalk out a plan to escape

the constant storm of tirades.

I sign a pact in the dark

with the god of death

I am sure he will welcome me,

with open arms into a world of my dreams

where only the paper and pen

will be my “soul” companion!

Peals of  laughter,  naughty pranks,

trivial fights, instant forgiveness,

splashing puddles ,screams of joy,

ink stained fingers, crayoned walls,

idling afternoons, comics unlimited

craving for sweetmeats, raiding the kitchen,

insatiable questions, dreams to reach for the sky,

scraped knees, countless friends

tiny delights, miniscule grudges,

vivid imagination, creative minds,

ingenious games, smiling faces,

simple wishes, innocent hearts,

Oh! With the fragrance  that emanates from the carefree souls,

the urge to travel back to the kaleidoscopic world,

sends me on a nostalgic reminiscence,

of treasured memories of childhood days!
