My Partner in Crime!

pinterest.com

Wallowing in a muddy puddle

naked feet jump in gay abandon

squishy, squashy soggy mess,

happy souls prance together

the tiny tail wags in delight

to the sweet sounds of giggles.

My pup, my perfect partner in crime.

Stealthily we enter home,

staining the carpeted floor with tiny footprints of brown.

The silence of the evening shattered

by mom’s scream of disgust,

watching us plastered in an earthy pack,

she fires her volley of angry outbursts.

We stand in mute innocence

my pup, my perfect partner in crime!

Soaring Tempers!

Emotional temper soars

rage blurs the mind’s vision

voices reach astounding decibels

heart beat escalates, matching the tempo

tirade of harsh words spew venom

fiery frustrations fold in clenched fists

high voltage drama unfolds.

A blazing inferno fetters the soul

sinks under a dark ocean of wrath

wreaks havoc of toxicity

relationships develop fragile cracks

bonds of friendship scar

dents an irreversible damage.

Time deflates the swollen ire

the gossamer clouding the mind, moves

perspective shifts

streaks of regret get highlighted.

Stay away from soaring tempers

for its aftermath is filled with rueful woe.

In response to secretkeeper.net’s challenge # 172, to use the five prompt words in a poem or story.

BED, FLARE, SEEK, GAIN, WAVES

A bout of hysterical flare up

sends me scurrying to the

shoreless ocean bed, where

I seek solace to pacify the heated mind.

Perched on the rocky cliffs,

gazing at the magic of the shimmering waves

listening to the gentle whispers of the breeze

sets me free from the emotional bondage.

The halcyon blue expanse, lulls the untamed ire.

Amid the naked waters, silent sands

and moments of solitude, I attain a sense of peace,

drowning in its wondrous depth.

Anger

ang

The dreaded five letter word, over which many of us have no control. It comes in a jiffy, conquers our mind and sanity without our consent. We seem totally helpless as it wreaks havoc in our minds, turning it volatile.

Anger is the outburst of an intense emotional response. It is usually a normal healthy human emotion, when a person is fleetingly annoyed. But when that emotion turns out of control, it assumes the tag of rage, fury or wrath and turns destructive.

ANGER……all of us have succumbed to it albeit at different stages. We are the so called evolved beings of this planet, yet find it impossible to stop being angry at people and situations. A slight provocation is enough to trigger the anger in us. With a highly developed intellect, isn’t it strange we have no control over our anger?

A decision taken in anger or words spoken when angry is something we are bound to regret eventually when the outburst cools down.

I am a person who can easily be upset and annoyed. A slight provocation leaves me fuming. Though situations or people still manage to do that to me, I am consciously trying to not let it affect me negatively. What I see has worked many a time is to walk away and remain quiet for a minute or two. That naturally cools down my ire and then talk it out in a normal tone. Believe me, it works most times.

It’s wonderful if you are level headed and cool. But if you get angry, what do you do to diffuse the situation before the verbal exchange of a heated words goes out of control ?

Nosy Affair

sneeze

Last morning, found some free time at hand.  Glancing at the book shelf laden with a plethora of books collected over the last two decades, I decided they were in dire need for a makeover. To dust, categorise and rearrange them would be just splendid. With a perfect plan in mind, I began to pull the books down, glancing through some of them, recollecting fond memories associated with a few others, stacking them into different categories, I diligently went on with the task at hand. Little did I anticipate what was in store for me!

Half way through, I had an unannounced visitor. No, not at the door but in my nose!! A naughty little tyke, who we all know as the sneeze :-). It suddenly crept up to my nose and let itself out, as if playing on a slide.  I guess it was enjoying the smooth slide down and decided to do it again, and again and again, much to my chagrin. I took a tissue to help me out of my misery.

After sitting down for a while to regain my sanity from the sneezing tornado, which wreaked a havoc, I headed back to the shelf once again to complete my unfinished chore. Feeling glad that the unwelcomed visitor decided to depart, I carried on with my work. As if hearing my thoughts, it came back, this time with some more pranks up its sleeve. It started to tickle and tease my nose. As I readied myself to let out the “A-a-achoo”, it decided to make a hasty exit, leaving me teary eyed and frustrated.

Just when I finally thought it bade me good bye, that stubborn mule, came back with vengeance. I went berserk on a roller coaster sneezing spree. After what seemed an eternity, the sneezing finally subsided, leaving me completely deflated.

Some of the books are still waiting to be put back on the shelf. I guess, that can wait. In the meantime let me prepare myself better for another likely combat, in case the naughty tyke decides to make a comeback!!   😉
