“inkblots mutate

You are required to find a picture from your Media library, sites for free pictures, or your phone camera and post it on your blog. Copyright if any will remain with you.”
My interpretation to this very unusual prompt.
Creative marvels
colors of ink weave stories

For this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #126, we’re going back to basics–namely, the ABC’s. We’re starting at the very beginning with the letter A. What images can you find that feature a subject that begins with the letter A?
I am delighted to announce that 3 of my poems, The Dark S(k)in, Becoming Me and I am a Curse have been selected from about a 1000 poems to be featured in The Kali Project Anthology. A brain child of Candice Lousia and Megha Sood, it brings together Indian women writers and artists sharing their feelings and penning their voices on issues and challenges Indian women face today, ranging from gender inequality, sexual harassment, abuse, rape, dowry, honor killing and in some cases even survival. It is my privilege to be featured along with many talented Indian women writers. Thanks to Candice and Megha for this opportunity and believing in my work. This is published by Indie Blue Publishing, slated for a winter release. Do stay tuned for further announcement on the release date.
Abstract figures, contours,
appear to ramble
incoherent thoughts.
The jagged emotions
deftly concealed
behind the colors bright.
Only the discerning eye
reads between the lines
to decipher the depth of pain.
My daughter is a creative girl blessed with a flair for sketching, painting, doodling and now trying her hand at digital painting too. I always felt her work was decent enough and would goad her to take part in art competitions. She would always answer in negative.
One day I questioned her as to why she didn’t want to participate in any competition. To which she replied, “Art is a very subjective personification and a creative extension of oneself. If the competition is to replicate an object or still life, then yes there is scope to judge the piece. But for example, if the topic for the painting is “Peace”, how can you judge the entries? A tranquil scenery depicts peace, a person meditating amidst a raging storm outside maybe at peace, a young baby’s innocent smile may bring peace, a person enjoying a soulful melody may feel at peace or it could be universal brotherhood which is the essence of peace. Each person has his/her own perspective to an idea which he gives shape to. In the same way the person judging the art piece also may have his/her own interpretation to the topic, which may not be in sync with the artist’s work. All of them have put their feelings and emotions to paper. While one can give their opinion on the piece, it need not translate into comparison with other pieces.”
Well, I felt she had a valid point here. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
The blank canvas awaits its destiny
as a melange of ideas brew
in the ingenious niche of
the artist ‘s mind,
working in tandem with
dexterous fingers
as they get on with their creation.
Hours of labor brings forth
the insipid white to life,
with a potpourri of hues
satiating the creative indulgence!
Structural marvels,
birthed by the ingenious minds
landscape redefined
Wavering fragile lines
alter to being resolute,
illegible scribbles and scrawls
transformed into stylized writings,
wings of fear clipped
to soar into the open skies,
meek submission develops
to an emphatic No,
the societal molds shed
to being You,
standing steadfast
against swaying temptations,
to own up responsibility
for a wrong doing,
leaving behind the comfort zone
to swim against the tide.
Filled with these strokes of courage
the canvas of life paints picture
evolving into an
aesthetic masterpiece
with a metamorphosed soul!
Ideas conceived in the creative mind
envisages a vision
gestates
experimenting contours flirt
endless sketches
crumpled sheets
spectrum of color fills the palette
caresses the canvas with strokes
bold and beautiful,
delicate and sublime
a creative blend unfolds
prolonged labor
finally
births an artistic masterpiece!

thoughts and words , paper and colors
lyrics and melody, grist and hands
threads and the loom , ingredients and dishes
to weave a creative masterpiece of Art!
