Gustatory Indulgence!

The pack of freshly baked donuts on the table,

entice me with their alluring flavors,

delighting my senses with heavenly aroma.

Classic, cinnamon and coffee work their magic on me,

as my will power melts under their saccharine glaze.

I succumb to the temptation of a sinful indulgence.

I gently pick up one, inhaling its flavorsome redolence.

The sugary sprinkles peck my lips, with a flirtatious tease.

A bite into the soft glazed buns, leaves me in raptures.

I revel in the tantalizing effect it has on my taste buds.

Satiated, my mouth drools a dulcet harmony.

Well, I guess I am forgiven

for committing adultery with my diet plan.

It was after all, just a onetime scrumptious affair!

Photography – Focusing on the Details!

Lens Artist Photo Challenge #146

This week, Patti invited us to post photos of the details from one subject ( a person, place or object) or many subjects!

My theme for the above is pictures from my kitchen escapades!!

Experimental escapades bring out a melange of flavours

some are a sensory delight, while others disappoint.

Sizzling pans, crackling spices, the whir of the blender

orchestrate a palate, to tingle the taste buds

focusing on the details, is a tested recipe for a gastronomical feast!

Some of these pictures are clicked by my daughter.

Daily Prompt – Disastrous

The newly bought recipe book titled “Baking for beginners placed on the bookshelf attracted my attention. The glossy pictures and the easy to bake instructions made baking look like a child’s play. Having a sweet tooth, I decided this would be a good investment to learn the art of baking and its finer nuances. Dreaming of becoming a great master chef in due course, I walked back home, proud of my purchase.

The very next day I shortlisted on a simple Vanilla sponge cake to bake. I earnestly started getting the ingredients ready. At that point the doorbell rang. I answered it and came back a few minutes later and continued with the recipe. Once done, I put the batter in the oven and waited. I was lost in the anticipation of all the adulation I would garner for my maiden attempt at baking. The bell on the timer rang , jolting me out of my reverie. I rushed to take out my masterpiece from the oven. I was shocked to see the disastrous result that came out. It was an absolute flop show. The cake had simply sunk into a hollow and cracked badly. Totally disappointed with my effort I checked the recipe book again, only to realise that when I went to attend the door bell, the page had turned in the breeze. I was totally oblivious to that and had just continued. The mix up of the proportions goofed up my cake completely!

All my family members had a hearty laugh when I narrated them my maiden tryst with baking!!

Haibun – Baking Affair!

I get into an indulgent mood and decide to do some baking. The apron clings on to me. As I gently caress the creamy butter and sugar, they blend into pristine silkiness. The flour, eggs and vanilla crumble in together. The whisk romantically flirts around and takes them on a spin. In goes some spice to enhance the flavour. Delicate hands bind them tenderly and shape them with care. Lined perfectly, they are all set to get ignited to the heat and passion of the oven. The wait, now gets restless. Finally out comes the perfectly baked cookies. I dust them with sprinkling of sugar and they are all set to be tasted.

Aromas beckon

taste buds savour sugar and spice

perfect symphony!
