She…

She,

voices her opinion loud, against her dwarfed rights

turns deaf to societal charades, with a whispered sigh

gives wings to her crumpled dreams, to reach the pinnacle

fights a daily battle against unseen and unsaid rules

frees her imprisoned longings, with her head held high

adorns a resilient avatar, with her tenacious spirit

proudly wears her tiara, despite the many scars.

Her life is a collage of challenges, a different set each time.

She expertly sews the many patches of her life

into a beautiful quilt,

signed with the motifs of her victories!

All she only wants is,

freedom to celebrate herself, to be who she is!!

Happy Women’s Day to all the amazing women here!

Transformation!

In response to Helene’s What do you see Challenge?

6361fe735c1ecb52c6be830e24bc5be6

Within the confines of my body

hounded by insecurities

I suffocate, struggle, stagnate

captive in the fortress of my mind.

In isolation I fight the avalanche of thoughts

absorbing the tremors of after effect.

The reverberations distinctly audible

in the empty silence of the soul.

The clock traverses its path

in moments of reflection ,

I unlearn and clear the cocoons.

The cloak of tangled mess drops,

metamorphosis happens.

The puzzles of the jigsaw of life

fall into place

completing a beautiful picture of

Shattered Dreams!

In response to

Ease|Storm|Mute|Calm|Rough

My dreams roughly jerked away

drifting into oblivion,

for I have to fulfil my parent’s legacy

“A family of doctors are we

and that’s what you are to be.”

my fate decided and sealed!

Sadly,

science is beyond my comprehension

while,

the world of words fascinates me

I paint my characters with ease

who come alive, as I dress them

with magical verses,

A writer is who, I aspire to be

but,

my  scarlet tears, anguished screams and earnest pleas

all fall mute to their distant ears.

My calm persona is just a facade

to hide my shattered soul

mocked and scoffed at,

helpless and hollow within,

I chalk out a plan to escape

the constant storm of tirades.

I sign a pact in the dark

with the god of death

I am sure he will welcome me,

with open arms into a world of my dreams

where only the paper and pen

will be my “soul” companion!

Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand is a witness to the conflux of two rivers, Alaknanda and  Mandakini! The sound of the gushing waters and tranquil surrounding is a perfect panacea to soothe a stressful mind!

As the wax melts, the flame dispels darkness and gloom, infusing light and  glow. Isn’t it a great lesson for us to learn in life too?

The exquisite craftsmanship of the artists who must have relentlessly worked for years to build the Grand Palace in Bangkok, is an awe inspiring visual marvel!

The blast!

In response to secretkeeper.net’s weekly writing prompt #119. The challenge is to use the 5 words given below (or their synonyms ) in a poem or flash fiction.

LOUD|WAR|JUMP|ESCAPE|RIGHT

The loud blast ripped through the calm of the city

deathly agonizing shrieks echoed far

innocent souls in a stupor, numb with fear

to soak in the effects of the gruesome bloodshed

shattered homes, dead smiles, painful cries

nothing seems right, to the frozen mind

the ghastly massacre leaves haunting images

lives, happiness and smiles, comes to a standstill

humanity plunges into an eerily gloomy silence!
