Let’s walk together…

With love as the locus of our relationship, let’s walk the talk, bridging the generation gap between us

converging on our divergent ideologies and identities, discarding the judgemental lens,

creating endearing stories of wizened wrinkles and vivacious spontaneity.

Let’s celebrate our differences, without any pretense, cementing it with a bond of acceptance,

sharing our joys, secrets, tears, resilience, translating moments to memories and lacing them with a twine of unconditional support for each other,

‘coz when the generations walk together hand in hand, the world radiates an ebullient spirit of harmony.

The Homecoming…

The rusty hinges of the door creak a melancholia of emptiness

abandoned, a veiled gossamer of neglect envelopes it.

Ambivalent emotions embrace me in nostalgia,

I close my eyes, inhale the smattering scents of yesteryears

fragments of my childhood, resplendent with love and laughter fill me.

Fun filled times with playmates in the cart

wheel across the courtyard, echoing merriment,

driving through the narrow alleys, the many outings in the old car were so cherished

the ambrosial culinary delights from mom’s kitchen permeated my senses.

Itinerant lifestyle, kept me away for good,

night, seemed too dark for the family in waiting.

The once familiar surroundings, today seem distant

walls of my home, do not recognize me anymore.

The people have all gone, only memories linger on

The sixth tea cup…

The Sunday tea meeting was a ritual, the Hashimoro family carried out without fail. The elderly couple lived by themselves in their old ancestral home. Their son, daughter in law and both the grandchildren visited them from the city, which was about an hour’s drive from there.

Every Sunday no matter what, the family never failed to be present for this evening of bonding over tea. Life went on as usual until old Mr. Hashimoro passed away.

After his death, his wife continued to live alone in the house as she had many beautiful memories attached to the place.

The following Sunday evening, with a heavy heart Mrs. Hashimoro, set the table with five tea cups, looking sadly at the sixth one in the  cupboard, missing her husband even more. She went into the kitchen to get some snacks to serve along with the tea. The plate of cookies dropped from her trembling hands as she came to the table.  The sixth tea cup was on the table….

Related by blood, but connected by love….that’s a family. Family is an incredible bond between the members woven together with layers of love, comfort, security and support. They do have their share of arguments and difference of opinion, but family is always one’s strength. The love of the family is the life’s greatest blessing!

Secure bond that weaves

an emotional connect

with pure threads of love!

With no electricity, flooded roads and strong gales, the storm had left the town battered. Forced to stay indoors, with no connectivity, Frank was home alone with his family. Like the rain, endless conversations, games, stories flowed. He felt connected to his family after ages!
