Unmoor!

Anchored to the harbor, by twines of anxiety

unknown shores overwhelm me.

Placid demeanor camouflages the conflict within me

Triumph lies beyond the tempest,

the spirit of accomplishment beckons me.

I just need to unmoor, set sail,

to break the spell of fear.

The Stolen Identity!

Traumatized by the disaster,

painful emotions besieged my core.

Beeping monitors and tubes injected,

kept me confined within the dreary hospital walls.

Surrounded by strangers fussing over me

I scanned for a familiar face, yet found none.

Paranoia left me fearing my own shadow.

Fate dealt a cruel blow,

realization dawned, that the accident had stolen

my memory, identity and my life from me!

Eugi’s weekly prompt : Shadows

Where am I?

I tread along the cobbled path early one morn,

to be greeted by a deserted street, echoing a sinister laugh.

A once familiar place bustling with activities, today stands bare.

It was only yesterday, lively mirth resonated here.

Heavenly aromas wafted from the bakers,

children pranced around,

guffaws of zealous grey-haired men, relaxing over a mug of beer,

the buzz of animated chatter, filled the air.

Today, there isn’t a sound or soul,

but, only a deathly silence hangs.

Am I scuffling with a nightmare,

 Or

did I actually walk into, the other dimension?

The Red Rose!

JerryKlein@unsplash

Confined to home due to the lockdown, Samir had ample time at hand. Staying alone, Netflix had become his best friend.

That night he watched a horror movie. Though a brave heart, this particular movie left him terrified. Cursing himself for watching it, he went to bed. The scenes from the film kept haunting him before he finally dozed off.

He saw a hooded faceless lady walk through the wall and give him a rose. There was something so sinister about her smile. Sweating profusely, he woke up with a start. Relieved that it was just his hallucination and a bad dream, he turned to go back to sleep.

And then, he saw it…

Paralysed with fear, he could hear his heart hammer against his chest. He tried to scream but his voice choked within.  A spine tingling sensation began to creep up as he began gasping for breath.

For next to him on the bed lay a red rose…

Tiny Tale – Hiding!

Alexandr Ivanov@pixabay.com

Two 20 word stories…

  1. Hiding her fears and anxiety, taking a deep breath, she finally jumped off the cliff.  Bungee jumping was fun afterall!

2. To the world, she was a gorgeous model. No one saw her bruises hid carefully behind the makeup and smile.

Sinister Who?

The walls stand mute, as a silent witness

burying within them, the many untold secrets

political debates, economic planning,

macabre massacres, cloistered dungeons,

wars lost, alliances forged,

the clinking of swords, the trot of horse’s hooves,

strategic conspiracies, victories celebrated,

stories of greed, love, power and nobility.

History lives here with the ghosts from the past

the eeriness comes alive under the moonlight

yet, the dead do not scare me

as much as the malevolent humans of today!

Lost in the Wilderness…

In response to The Sunday Whirl, #443 to weave the above words together.

The trek into the woods with friends went totally awry. The adventurous I, ventured off limits. The tumble down the slope, left me bruised and alone.

Lost in the wilderness, I tried to figure a way out. The air reeked of pungent forest smells. Howl and cries of the wild beasts echoed. Dark foreboding clouds loomed over the dense canopy of trees. The silhouettes seemed to draw an eerie imagery against the darkness. My heart was pounding loud. I felt something move slyly to my side and let out a shriek. Taking to my heels, I turned and ran far. Panting and gasping for breath, I eased my steps a bit.

Suddenly I felt a piercing pain grip through my arm. I could feel blood trickling down. Fear and panic gripped me. I felt myself losing control, when a pair of strong arms held me before I slipped into a dark void….

Amy decided to take the spookiness level of her Halloween party a notch higher. The haunted house in the woods with ravens clucking around, the crinkled pumpkins added to the eeriness. But, the hands creeping around the trees was not a part of the theme….now fear gripped her!
