The Homecoming…

The rusty hinges of the door creak a melancholia of emptiness

abandoned, a veiled gossamer of neglect envelopes it.

Ambivalent emotions embrace me in nostalgia,

I close my eyes, inhale the smattering scents of yesteryears

fragments of my childhood, resplendent with love and laughter fill me.

Fun filled times with playmates in the cart

wheel across the courtyard, echoing merriment,

driving through the narrow alleys, the many outings in the old car were so cherished

the ambrosial culinary delights from mom’s kitchen permeated my senses.

Itinerant lifestyle, kept me away for good,

night, seemed too dark for the family in waiting.

The once familiar surroundings, today seem distant

walls of my home, do not recognize me anymore.

The people have all gone, only memories linger on

Photography – Focusing on the Details!

Lens Artist Photo Challenge #146

This week, Patti invited us to post photos of the details from one subject ( a person, place or object) or many subjects!

My theme for the above is pictures from my kitchen escapades!!

Experimental escapades bring out a melange of flavours

some are a sensory delight, while others disappoint.

Sizzling pans, crackling spices, the whir of the blender

orchestrate a palate, to tingle the taste buds

focusing on the details, is a tested recipe for a gastronomical feast!

Some of these pictures are clicked by my daughter.

Choco chip cookies
Healthy veggie salad
Strawberry, Mango and Chocolate truffles

Weekly photo challenge – Transmogrify

When I checked this week’s prompt, it read ” Transmogrify “. It was a word beyond my limited vocabulary. I had to ask my friendly dictionary to help me understand its meaning. My ever obliging dictionary willingly threw some light on it. It gave me two meanings:

i) To change or transform into a different shape, esp a grotesque or bizarre one.

ii) To change thoroughly, as into a different shape or form.

My pictures today go more with the second meaning!!

One fine day my son surprised me when he announced that he was going to make some donuts. Happy, that he volunteered to try a hand at something in the kitchen I left him to do the honours. With his laptop on the kitchen counter, the you tube video of the recipe guiding him, he earnestly started work with soft music playing in the background. I sat back watching him at work, refraining myself from giving my expert advice 😉 After a couple of hours of labour, he came out with an assortment of donuts so well arranged. It was not only a treat to the eyes but a feast to the taste buds.

Indeed a proud moment for me as a mom, when he donned the apron and came up with one of the best tasting donuts I ever had ❤ !
