Lost Emotional Quotient!

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #165

Look closely at the pictures above. Choose one or more, and think what are they doing together. Will they remain entwined or go their own way? Was their act or intent good or evil? Could they do whatever they planned to do together, or fell apart?

I have chosen the 3rd picture – The human hand and that of a robot for this challenge.

Man, the most intelligent species,

created artificial intelligence,

stepping into innovative technological frontiers,

taking automation to dizzying heights.

Breathing in greyscale monotony,

he put  life into chromed metal bodies.

With a system of inputs, circuits and codes

programmed to perfection,

Robots, obeying his every command

be it compute, abort, destroy…

performing each task with finesse.

With its heart full of wires, bereft of feelings,

the vitals of emotional connect seems missing.

In today’s environment,

Is man becoming his own creation?

The Question Remains…

Lock Down, Lock, Year, Nostalgia, Era, Door, Metal

Lock down changed life forever

redefined many facets.

We tasted virtual reality bites

embraced a minimalistic approach,

nature rejuvenated, when we were caged.

Emotions came about in a mixed bag.

Familial bonds recharged with great vigor

skills honed, connections renewed.

Some had to endure the pangs of separation,

mental health issues rocked a few.

The health workers are true warriors

fighting an enemy unknown.

The harsh plight of migrant workers

brought to fore, many kind souls amongst us,

 reaching out with helping hands,

the blessed, bowed down in gracious thanksgiving.

Now all masked up, as we unlock our cages,

this question continues to torment me…

Will man emerge wiser from the pandemic?

will we respect this freedom now

or

will we go back to our old ways?

Mother Earth’s Lament!

Lucas Pezeta@Pexels

For eons I lived as a spirited soul

nourishing and nurturing all

under my benevolent grace.

My vibrant persona, sparkled with

an eclectic mix of wild, free strokes

painted my canvas with a rich hue.

I danced in sublime ecstasy, as

floral scented zephyr hummed ditties,

life orchestrated a rhythmic euphony.

Until man came along,

With his bag of never ending desires

he progressed well initially, respecting me

before greed overpowered his wisdom.

He robbed colors from my palette

shrouding me in a smoky grey

casting me in a colorless attire.

His plunders continue unabated

inflicting painful scars

oblivious to my silent tears.

My womb swells with his toxic influx

Isn’t it only a matter of time

before it becomes malignant?

Reena’s exploration challenge : Colorless

Why?

three line tales 235: a lavender field at sunset

Watching a painting exhibition highlighting the infinite beauty of nature, David stopped by one that caught his attention.

The beautiful glistening rays falling on the expansive lavender fields, capturing prismatic bubbles, the distant mountains, swaying verdant greens, it felt so alive, that he could feel the air infused with its fragrance, serenading him with a lingering melody, taking him away from the daily stress and woes.

He thought to himself, “When boundless blessings of nature abound, why does man imprison himself in cubicles of concrete, devoid of viridity in the name of progress?”

Prejudiced!

three line tales, week 231: the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset

Watching the eventide in all its glory, set Ann thinking.

Man travels miles, to admire and soak in the resplendent beauty of nature’s magical hues, with absolute acceptance, without any conditions what so ever.

Then why is it that the same man judges a fellow human being, by his color, looks and success?

In response to Sonya’s Three line tale #231.

Will we make the right choice?

Life’s roads, so unpredictable

a sudden brake, brings the car

to a screeching halt.

The meandering roads show

no sign of destination,

the path ahead looks eerily dark.

A glimmer of hope

peeps in through the obscure maze

tiny luminaries twinkle bright

an effulgent moonlight beams

its magical smile,

lights up the route,

for life to move on!

This poem depicts the current situation of our life. The minute virus brought life across the globe to a grinding halt. Man felt he was armored with invincibility, making forays with such advanced technology and sophisticated gadgets. It took an infinitesimal microbe to get man on his knees and make him utterly helpless.

I hope wisdom prevails and man uses his intellect to learn an invaluable lesson from this bitter experience.

While I always like to end things on a positive note, I would like to know your thoughts on this. Do you think we will mend our ways to a better tomorrow or will we tread back on the same path all over again?

Endangering Earth…

In response to Brenda’s wordle #418.

Write a prose or a poem using some or all of the words given.

Global warming, rising ocean levels, climate change, water crisis, forest fires are terms that have become common parlance today. What was earlier ignorance is now over powered by man’s greed, in plundering nature’s resources for his benefit. The adverse impact of this reckless behavior is escalating to be a very alarming situation. If man continues to ravage earth’s reserves at this rate, life on this planet is definitely numbered.  The only solution lies in ending our cruelty to nature, help her reinstate her lost glory and leave behind a planet worthy of living for our children.

Lessons to be learnt…

We the flowers come in a

myriad hues, making us special.

Our fragrance, rarity or looks

further enhance our beauty.

Never do we compete

with one another but

complement and complete

each other, holding hands.

Be it at the altar or in a bouquet,

at the shrine or a festival.

At the garden swaying

in harmony to the

gentle breeze and admiring glances,

we infuse happiness and smiles

across the miles!

I often ponder, that there is so much for us to learn from these pretty flowers. Some are wild, some so delicate, some are short lived while some stay bloomed for months, the fragrance of some mesmerize while some others are an epitome of beauty. Each one so unique and beautiful in their own way and yet all of them, so happy with their “being”, without an iota of envy creeping in.

They seem to be the perfect example of unity and beauty in diversity.

Then why is Man, the most intelligent species, always competing with each other to be one up? Why does he fail to learn from all other components of nature who live in perfect harmony?

Are we really the most intelligent?

Nature – Surreal Splendor!

An ardent lover of nature, I believe nature is a treasure trove of beauty and joy. She dazzles our senses with the feelings of awe, wonder and amazement at her sheer beauty.

The confluence of the varied facets of nature’s immense artistry is there for all to see. The wafting clouds, winding rivulets, snow-capped mountains, green meadows, glorious horizon, starlit night sky, vibrant smiling flowers, all complement and complete nature. No concrete structure however magnificent it is, can match the alluring charm of nature. To me she is all encompassing epitome of beauty.

“If you truly love nature you will find beauty everywhere! “Vincent Van Gogh.

Today, I will focus the spotlight on the many roles that she dons.

Musician

The gurgling brooks, the roaring thunder, the dancing winds, the gentle rainfall, humming bees, chirping birds, the undulating waves , the cascading waterfalls, trill of the insects, all her musicians play their part to perfection in creating a scintillating symphony. Truly they play an ebullient orchestra!

Artist

An artist par excellence, she paints the horizon with a riot of colors depicting her mood.  Many painters have attempted to capture her glory on canvas. From the vermilion and tangerine streaks, to the diffused hues of purple across the azure horizon, the pristine white clouds to the tar grey, the lush greens to the ochre yellows, the calm emerald blue waters to the shimmering gold, the pristine snow clad splendor to the ember autumn glow, the grandeur of the majestic mountains to the ravishing valleys, she looks radiant in all her avatars!

Healer

The confused mind, broken heart and the bruised body, all find solace under her benevolent grace. She energises and rejuvenates the body and mind.  Her tranquil and serene persona infuses an eternal calm to the seeking soul. She indeed dons the role of a therapeutic healer with élan!

Scriptwriter

O la la….. Nature loves to play cupid in many love stories. She pens a perfect script and setting for a romantic evening under the silvery moonlight and the confetti of the twinkling stars. The raindrops, snowfall and the whispering cool caress of the breeze, all kindle the amorous souls to compose beautiful poetries of love and passion.

Nurturer

Ever providing and giving to one and all, creating a nurturing sanctuary for dwelling, she is a boon to mankind, a celebration of existence and an elixir of life!

What is nature to you?
