Sun n Sea – A Harmony!

Eastern sky glistens

the dreamy sea slumbers on

indolent waves ebb

golden sunshine smiles

sun-drenched tides unfurl magic

turquoise melange

emits a bright trail

kisses the western skyline

lulls the blue expanse

oceanic tides

weaves an endless saga of

cadenced harmony!

Juxtaposing Mornings!

A typical weekday morning in urban households is a mad rush against time. In most Indian homes, the chores and noise decibels  are directly proportional 🙂 . Waking up kids, getting them ready for school on time, the mixer whirring in the background, preparation of breakfast and feeding your picky child, packing lunch boxes for school and office, maid working around, the doorbell ringing, cell phone beeping,….it is literally a battle zone where every minute is crucial. And  god forbid, on just one of those bad days you hit the snooze button an extra few times, then the domino effect takes place spiraling the chaos beyond control. By the time you step out of home to head to work, you are totally exhausted. I think many will relate to this cacophonic morning ritual.

Change of scene….

Last week we happened to go on a short vacation. I woke up to a beautiful leisurely morning. Stepping out of the room, I had all the time to myself.  Believe me, nothing prepared me for the marvel of nature that was to unfold.

Idling on the hammock, I watched the blue yonder peeping between the green parasol of leaves, with its glorious heavenly smile. Wisps of clouds drifted along merrily. The gentle  rays of dawn cascaded coyly between the verdant hues with a prismatic glow. It was truly a sight to behold. The moist sea breeze softly caressed my body, whispering stories of the ebbing waves. The plethora of sounds of nature I heard, felt surreal. The chirps of the many birds, trill of the insects, rustling of the leaves, buzzing bees along with meandering butterflies, greeting pretty blooms and roar of the ocean waves….. Nature’s morning raga was divinely melodious. I lost the sense of time, enthralled by its picturesque harmony.

I couldn’t help but mull over the juxtaposing mornings!

Magical Ocean!

In response to secretkeeper.net’s challenge # 172, to use the five prompt words in a poem or story.

BED, FLARE, SEEK, GAIN, WAVES

A bout of hysterical flare up

sends me scurrying to the

shoreless ocean bed, where

I seek solace to pacify the heated mind.

Perched on the rocky cliffs,

gazing at the magic of the shimmering waves

listening to the gentle whispers of the breeze

sets me free from the emotional bondage.

The halcyon blue expanse, lulls the untamed ire.

Amid the naked waters, silent sands

and moments of solitude, I attain a sense of peace,

drowning in its wondrous depth.

Endangered blue waters…

Deep blue waters, an amazing handiwork of God’s creation. Yesterday, its turquoise waters smelt of salt. It was a home to infinite marine creatures and a lifeline to fishermen. Its tranquil persona provided a soothing balm, to calm the troubled mind. Its mesmeric beauty always held one in awe.

But sadly today the oceans reeks of a toxic scent the world over. Its pristine blue water turning into a dull grey. The plastic and junk strewn recklessly by careless tourists have poisoned its waters, endangering the eco system and the innocent sea creatures.

All images are from the internet. The pictures are a testimony to the dire imbalance we are causing due to our insensitive behavior, without realizing that its adverse effect will boomerang on us.

Recently I read that Maya Bay beach in Thailand and Boracay beach in Philippines are being shut down to tourists, to facilitate its clean up before the damage done is irreversible. Isn’t it an irony that we, despite being the most intelligent creatures on the planet, cause the most damage to it?

Isn’t it time that we help the ocean regain its lost splendor?
