In Hope…

Entrenched in a veil of misunderstanding,

our relationship treads on a path of frailty.

Tremors of raucous feelings erupt

whorls of pain rives my soul.

I hold on to the scraps of buried memories

imprisoning the unsaid words, within the fortress of my heart.

I tether firmly to the cord holding us together,

 hoping one day,

the clamor of the incredulous mind clears.

Petals of integrity unfurls its magic

to rekindle the lost affinity, with a blossom of love!

Driving Me Crazy!

Woman, Crying, Drawing, Tears, Sadness, Loneliness

The trauma which I had buried deep

mistaking it to be dead,

sadly lay unforgotten, in a slumber

tucked away in a remote corner of my heart.

Shadows eclipsed under the blanket of time emerge,

as ghosts of the past, start to haunt my present.

Wispy fringes of pain gather momentum

inundates my mind with a broody melancholy.

A sense of estrangement overwhelms my being,

conflicting dissonance envelopes my psyche.

Dismantling my marquee of balance,

it holds my sanity to ransom,

driving me to the brink of insanity!

Book Affair!

The cosy lair, a perfect setting

in the backdrop of an infinite treasury,

for a date of the two bibliophiles.

The cocktail of genres, intoxicate their spirit

spell binding their senses into a dreamy ecstasy.

Smell bound by the scent of the crisp papers,

they brew animated conversations over coffee.

Debates unchain emotional exchange of opinions,

the heat lingers on, igniting a feeling of passionate bookbosom

hands feel the pages,  the heart sentranced by the words.

The two biliophagist indulge in readultry,

celebrating their profound love for books!

Reflective Space!

The second wave of the pandemic has gripped many parts of the world.  With a steep spike in daily cases, an untold anxiety and fear cripples the mind. A home today has a wider purview to be more inclusive. With members of the family confined indoors, working from home, online classes, everything under the same roof, there is bound to be some amount of mayhem…. a clash of schedules and tempers. Bedrooms and living rooms converted into office/school, the table is strewn with many gadgets, paper and all kinds of accessories. The video call at odd times, demands the voice decibels to remain low. Imagine one’s own room has restricted entry today.  A great deal of tenacity is required to cope up with the deluge of mental stress hitting us from all directions.

We all have, to some extent found our own mechanisms to handle the uncertainties surrounding us today. My sacred space is a small alcove in my home, where I have silent conversations with myself, indulge in some self-love, heal my pain and calm my mind. Believe me, this quiet time with myself in my cozy corner, is helping me a great deal to maintain my sanity, in an otherwise cacophonic home today.

Empower the mind to deal with turbulent emotions

created by the ripples of life.

Diffuse the torrent, channelize a path,

indulge in holistic living.

Spend solitary moments in mindful silence,

ruminate on the breath.

Let the receptive ears soak in the serenading

 harmony of nature.

Allow the incessant tears flow from the closed eyes,

cleansing the impurities from the system.

With focussed reflection,

the confluence of the body and mind

transcends beyond the realm of universe.

Feel the abundance of divine energy manifest within,

cradling the self with a healing light.

As a benign balm of spiritual ecstasy fills it,

a sense of empyreal peace pervades.

Finally the,

mind is empowered to deal with the turbulent emotions!

Life’s Milestones…

popnzebra@unsplash

Bubbly baby’s progress defines

growing up milestones

painted in playful contours

in a blissful innocent world.

Teenage years chart a new course

mark the many firsts…a date, a kiss

romantic crush or rebellious streak

friends and ambition play a pivotal role

zeal to accomplish inks the milestones.

With a step into the professional world,

life ebbs into a comfort zone

many settle to the society’s norms

honor the events that unfold in due course

targets at work and family goals, outline the milestones.

Fading twilight waits for the ebony sky

to move on, into a destination unknown.

A glance into life’s rear view mirror reflects

celebration of life with its many milestones.

The heart whispers a thanksgiving prayer!

An ode to the Ordinary!

Doodle by my daughter

The cover of my book depicts an essence of commonality

it pens reflection of  my gratitude, to the many silent doers

highlighting their sensitivity towards a humane life.

Ordinary lives of people, making an extraordinary difference!

Unlocking their repertoire of goodness

they leave a trail of kindness,

soothe another’s pain, feed a hungry mouth

they gift a moment of lift, to the lesser fortunate.

We don’t need heroes in capes, we find many among us

who choose to make a difference, in their own small way.

Their selfless service, serves a sliver of humanity

in today’s disintegrating values of the world.

An ode to the ordinary, making an extraordinary difference!!

The Gamble!

AK was known for rebellious temperament, who always enjoyed swimming against the tide.

Against everyone’s advice, he invested a huge sum of money in an extravagant commercial Bollywood movie, with only a male cast.

Would his gamble pay off?

Reena’s exploration challenge #175 : write a story/anecdote/non-fiction piece which does not involve a woman.

Insipid Life!

Once upon a time, a vivacious girl was she.

Jewels of happy times dazzled her cache of memories.

Her persona emanated a sprightly laughter,

until the pandemic struck.

Locked down within the four walls,

online, virtual space conquered her life.

With friends and family imprisoned on the screen

tentacles of loneliness clasped her breath.

Silent voices screamed within her head,

with thoughts, lost in the labyrinth of anxiety.

Her once effervescent soul, today is anemic.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced schools, colleges and educational institutions to shut down since March last year. At an age when the primary fulfilling factor is interaction with classmates and enjoying school-life, a shutdown has wreaked havoc in the daily life of students. We have seen an alarming rise in the mental health problems faced by them. Acknowledging this issue with timely treatment can make a significant difference in helping them cope better with the situation.
