Q – Quietude!

A to Z Challenge – Nature and I

I love the feeling when the mind wanders and rests at the same time – Pragalbha Doshi

Being immersed in nature, away from people, work and gadgets, is the best gift one can give to self. Reflective solitude in the lap of nature is absolutely therapeutic. Tuning into the flow of nature, being mindful of the present, heeding a listening ear to the little sounds around, can be a profoundly gratifying experience.

In an age of speed, I began to think, nothing could be more invigorating than going slow. In an age of distraction, nothing can be more luxurious than paying attention. And in the age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still. – Pico Iyer

For today’s challenge, I am sharing a few pics from my archives where I love to spend time in quietude!

A perfect place to spend time in reflective solitude!
Watching the clouds drift by!
Observing the buzzing bees at work on the beautiful bloom.
Gazing at the slothful blue!
Relaxing under the green parasol
Freezing conversations at the peak!
Listening to their fishy tales:)
Twilight tidings!
Bidding the sun adieu for the day
Admiring its bewitching smile

The Heartbeat!

Away from the realms of the mundane

I tread beyond the path untraveled

to be surprised by magnificence extraordinaire.

Kaleidoscopic splendor greets my weary eyes

clouds weave a lyrical tapestry around serrated peaks

the winds sing ballads through the willows.

Amidst the tranquil canvas of serenity

sitting in silent reflective solitude,

I hear, the heartbeat of mother earth!

Where am I?

I tread along the cobbled path early one morn,

to be greeted by a deserted street, echoing a sinister laugh.

A once familiar place bustling with activities, today stands bare.

It was only yesterday, lively mirth resonated here.

Heavenly aromas wafted from the bakers,

children pranced around,

guffaws of zealous grey-haired men, relaxing over a mug of beer,

the buzz of animated chatter, filled the air.

Today, there isn’t a sound or soul,

but, only a deathly silence hangs.

Am I scuffling with a nightmare,

 Or

did I actually walk into, the other dimension?

The Sphinx’s Lament…

Since time immemorial, my abode was

teeming with people from across the world.

Intrigued by the myths that shroud me,

photographers, writers and tourists

thronged to experience my mystic aura.

The gales filled me with the echoes of

chatter and clicks of the shutterbugs.

Always, the center of attraction,

there was  never a dull moment in my life.

Life across the globe changed drastically,

the gloom of the pandemic, cast an ominous shadow.

Today, the gales sing a melancholic tune

bringing in silent grains of sand.

I am deserted, in this vast desert,

lonely and desolate, scanning the roads,

trying to hear voices, in the eerie stillness of time.

Unspoken Words!

It’s been an year since I published my maiden poetry and haiku book titled “Eclectic Verses”. Thank you for the wonderful response and feedback many of you have shared with me. Sharing one of the poems from the book. Do read it if you haven’t done so as yet. Sharing the link for the book at the end.

At times silence speaks volumes

the sublime conversations

whispers the language of love

narrates the saga of implicit verses.

Eyes drown in your bewitching allure

the face buried in your lustrous tresses

the words unable to fathom the feeling

of those beautiful moments of silence.

Under the effulgent moonlight

the hearts wallow in the beauty,

with you, hand in hand

entwined with some unspoken words.

Frozen!

Autumnal hues fade

seasonal baton exchanged,

bleak dreary act unfolds

 gentle snowflakes cascade

kiss the earth in hushed tones

burying the winters whisper

in absolute white silence.

The melancholy numbs the poetic musings

frigid ink stares at the blank pages

frosty madness eclipses sanity

awaits the arrival of spring,

to thaw the frozen thoughts.

Muted Voices!

In response to Kat’s twittering tale # 130, to write a tale on the pic prompt in 280 letters or less.

When Adi introduced his best friend Jai to his bride Uma, they froze.

Recalling their chance meeting on a train journey where their eyes and heart embraced but  their words remained shy and muted. If only they gave their emotions a voice then, today would be a different story.

Letter count : 280

मुलाकात – The meeting!

img_20181223_174056

आज चंद खामोश लम्हे गुज़ारी तन्हाई मे,
 बरसो बाद अपने आप से मुलाकात हुई .

Today spent a few moments in silent reflection

I was surprised, meeting myself after ages!
