an organic trail
the primordial heartbeat
reconnect to roots
its time we pledge to restore
nature’s lost green tiara

Childhood innocence
tiny delights define joy
mindful behavior
transition to adulthood
mind full, blinkered existence!
Tanka inspired by Chris’s poem, Return to innocence
vagaries of time
majestic resplendence wanes
arched shadows eclipsed
seals the manor’s destiny
brings it under the hammer
Pandemic days ebb
pirouetting flames of diya*
brightens festive mood
vibrant emotions dazzle
heralds celebration time
The dark shadows of the virus seem to drift away, as the winds of normalcy brings in a much-needed reprieve. With all things opening up and life returning to pre covid times, we pray for a better tomorrow. Hoping the sparkling conversations and sounds of laughter replace the din and smog of the crackers. Let’s illuminate our earth with the dazzle of love and peace.
Happy Diwali to all !

In response to Colleen’s tuesday tanka challenge # 103, to use the words fall & try (Synonyms only)
Picture perfect click,
my lame attempt rewarded
as the sun descends
melting into the sea bed
a vermillion brilliance!
In response to Colleen’s weekly poetry challenge #90 for prompt words Give and Receive synonymously.
Thought and deed broadcast
reflections in life’s mirror
karma keeps a tab
through an invisible force
reaping fruits of our actions!
It’s time we call it quits. I have come to realize that there is nothing more in this relationship for me. Though you have stood by me in thick and thin, quenched my thirst, appeased by hunger, helped me in many ways yet, I know I am being selfish when I have to break up with you. It’s just that doing this is for the greater good of all! Making inroads into all aspects of my life, you seem to be stalking me like a shadow. While your intention is all good, you are making my life toxic. Both, my home and I are beginning to choke under your excessive interference.
I know it’ll take me a while to come out of your influence, but I am sure it will help me breathe freely and connect back to my roots. It was good while it lasted. But sorry mate, I have to bid adieu to you, Mr. PLASTIC!!
I am sure all of us are aware that plastic takes hundreds of years to degrade and is literally choking our earth. Let’s switch to alternate options and ban plastic from our life as far as possible.
toxic relationship
choking us to a slow death
flush out and move on
embrace natural options

In response to Colleen’s weekly tanka challenge # 80, to use the synonyms only of the prompt words Soft & Gather.
I step out to witness a picturesque seasonal transition, one autumn morning. The porch is enveloped in a vibrant carpet of yellow and crimson leaves . The cool breeze caresses and whispers to them, sweet nothings. Coyly smiling, they sway under the cloudy sky, whispering secret messages, finally cascading to create a rustling harmony.
The mild autumn breeze
wafting warm cinnamon blends
celestial rhythms
the scarlet leaves congregate
choreograph balletic moves!
In response to Colleen’s weekly poetry challenge #70, I have written a tanka and a haiku.
The prompt words are Challenge & Destiny, with the condition only to use their synonyms.

Desolate and bald
the net of desertion fails
the lone tree stands tall
amid a blanket of snow
certain of sprouting afresh!
