A guide, a guru, a teacher, a mentor, an educator call them by any name they mean the same.
In India, teacher’s day is celebrated on 5 September every year to commemorate the birth of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
There is no denying in the fact that the teacher’s have played a very important role in moulding our personality and shaping us in who we are today. A child is like wet clay, waiting to be sculpted into a beautiful piece of art. The teachers carry a huge responsibility of shaping the young minds!
On Teacher’s day, I look back in gratitude to all the people who have influenced me to be the person who I am today. Parents, siblings, teachers, friends, husband, children, strangers, experiences and above all our greatest teacher “Life”!
A teacher,
ignites the young mind
nurtures the sprouts to take strong roots
clears the weeds of ignorance
helps the bud blossom into a flower!
A teacher,
Is a beacon of light guiding
like a candle who burns selflessly
to light a thousand new ones
enlightening the eager minds!
A teacher,
encourages her pupil
to flap their wings and soar high
instils confidence in them to
tread on uncharted paths!
Salutations to all the teachers who
with their words of wisdom
can influence and impact
a student, beyond eternity!

lovely post Radhika….. I remember in our boarding school… we use to change guards and senior students were given role of teacher for a day…. we use to follow similar activities that of a teacher… go to class… teach… lunch together and in the afternoon after school was over a team was made of real teacher and his student representative and lot of competitions were held…… we use to enjoy a lot…..

Thank you Sudhir. We too had a similar thing in school. Each student took on the time table of the particular teacher and followed it. The girls had to wear Saree too. So it was a big event which we looked forward to ☺️☺️

Salutations to all the teachers in the way they mould the child. Awesome and brilliant composition of words, Radhika. I too received a great quote: ‘Good Teachers are the reason why ordinary students dream to do extraordinary things.’ Happy teachers day to you too.

How wonderful, thanks for sharing. I can speak as both a student and a teacher, since I’ve been both. I’ve had some incredible teachers who have shaped me and changed the way I think. I can only hope to help others in a similar way in the future!

I am from a family of teachers and taught myself for a few years. It matters a lot to get the respect and facilitate the teachers. I miss my teachers a lot and being from a convent they had their own unique styles, Happy teachers day to them, Thought of writing about it however time is not allowing me to do much nowadays. Have a good day and keep posting.

Thanks a lot Subhash for sharing your thoughts. Teaching is a very noble profession. Teachers mould and entire generation. So a lot of responsibility on their shoulders. Regards to them 🙏

My little one is convinced about anything related to her work or school only if her teacher confirms it, even my words need confirmation. That becomes the role of a teacher in a little child’s life. Wishing all the wonderful teachers a very happy teachers day and gratitude to all the teachers who played a big and important role in molding us to become who we are today.

Oh yes Pranitha! I used to teach a few years back. And the parents would always tell me that, ” ma’am only if you tell something my child follows it diligently”. So a huge responsibility lies on the teachers shoulders to mould them well.

I so hope that the teachers do not get caught up in the monetary goals and ignore the fact that they are leading the citizens of tomorrow.

the thing about teachers is that as we get higher up in education system the teachers keep getting worse and worse without any passion or care for the kids.

Unfortunately true in some cases Arnab. People who are passionate about teaching don’t become teachers as they are very poorly paid. Unless the system improves the pay scale this said state is going to continue.

I enjoyed this poem! Thank you! And today, it was my students who informed me that today was Teacher’s Day! Even though Teacher’s Day is celebrated today to celebrate our hard work, I am grateful for having students who are so eager to learn and appreciate my efforts in engaging them! It is a fruitful career!
