The journey of life is all but smooth. Laden with obstacles, bitter relationships, unfavorable situations, many times life frustrates and hurts us. People, situations, health, environment and many other factors impede our progress ahead, testing our tenacity. In such a scenario we have two options. Either give in to it or bounce back resilient and strong, to continue on the path. Obviously the first option is not a great choice. So how does one exercise the second option?
Family and friend’s support means a lot in such situations. They provide a soothing balm on our bruises and help us heal and get over a problem.
But other than people, there are things which provide a cushioning, when blows strike hard on us or when we face a heart breaking situation. Be it books, music, prayers, travel, solitude, they all inspire and motivate us to persevere without giving up.
My ally or inspiration in such times has always been, drowning in some soulful music in solitude. The reflection, introspection and at times letting the tears just flow has always had a cathartic influence on me. With the cobwebs of my mind cleared, it aids in lucidity of coming to a rational decision.
So, today I would like to know, what and not who inspires you when the going gets tough?
When the going gets tough, i loose myself.. I am my own inspiration. I look back at those cherished memories. It could be a photo, a poem, a dress or anything. I take the help of myself because sometimes i assume when i am left alone with emptiness and if i need an inspiration, why should i take the help of something external when i have it in me..

Music for me too. But also our Scriptures sometimes have words that inspire. I think, for me, it is the knowledge that we can overcome that inspures me ultimately. Great question by the way

So happy to read your thoughts here. Scriptures do carry profound wisdom to bail us out of any situations in life.
My intention in asking this question was understand how different things inspire people and thus spread this positive vibe across the blogosphere. Thanks so much. 💖

I really liked the question. It made me think, because so many people say that I inspire them (this CAN become a bit of a burden because sometimes you jyst want to be grumply, lol) but I had to think, what inspires ME. In the end I suppise it IS my faith, though even that is stretched at times, but that is what I akways come back to. I think that quotes from other people inspire me, like for instance Mata Angelou. And the brave and courageous actions and attitydes of others in adversity, persecution, oporession, etc. There is so NUCH in this wirld to inspure us. Oh, and nature. Oh YES, nature. That inspures me a LOT. Lovely thread here

That is great question Radhika,
we all have different motivations, and definitely motivation is energy for our soul. For me, biggest inspiration is change. I like that word, and that state. I like to move forward. always and that is my motivation!

Mostly my family, Radhika. Sometimes a book from nowhere provides me with the answers I seek and inspires this journey. There are many moments that this life unexpectedly showers , a hearty laugh of a child, the never ending waves… Thanks for the question , kept me thinking…

I pour all my thoughts into writing, it is so cathartic. Music is a great soother but these are temporary tools. Eventually we have to introspect, accept the setbacks of life and move ahead. A loving partner or a friend could be an inspiring asset at such times.

The solace that writing provides to the troubled mind is truly beyond measure. Once the ripples of tension settles, it is definitely wise get into introspective mode to help us out of the situation and move on. Thanks so much Balroop for your inputs.

And here i am sitting in front of my laptop, thinking, ‘what’ inspires me when the going gets tough?. I think motivating quotes or motivational speeches by personalities who have struggled in their lives are my savior.

Family and friends are always a treasured support and source of inspiration… sometimes I ‘allow’ myself some personal time to wallow and then I turn to music … or long walk, immersing myself in nature! A thoughtful post that leaves me in a reflective mood.

Consuming different forms of art- be it reading, music or cinema- helps to fight the blues away. And of course, the support of family and friends, I guess.

Ahha.. great post.. I have the habit of counting on my blessings, whenever I feel down.. immediately my mind flashes before me the less privileged lot, or the not so lucky ones, that sets me to get up and go. I feel lucky that I’m having a very soulful mind that doesn’t allow me to stay down for long.. I get bored to that mindset and bounce back to my normal self very soon..
Thanks dear for this post here.. 😇😇💕

I can write an entire post on this!!
Being a voracious reader and “not so amazing” writer, I don’t know why I gave up blogging suddenly an year back. One day, reading my own creations gave me the power to resurrect the writer in me, and since that day, my past has become my inspiration to urge me to things differently if I want to change my future. My past, my experiences tells me, and that’s what inspires me.
Have an amazing day dear friend!!

What inspires me to keep going when difficulties surround me? God. Plain and simple. He literally inspires me to wake up every morning and face the challenges of the day, because He tells me over and over and over again, “I will be your strength, I will be your comfort, I will be your peace, just trust me.” Thank you for posting. I love the content. Blessings!
