The call of the mountains beckoned my nomadic soul and restless feet. A day long drive, took me to the foothills of the mountains, away from the mediocrity of a city dweller’s life.
Next morning, I was greeted by warm sunshine. Fully rested, I checked my backpack for all essentials and began my hike. I have always found the mountains alluring. They calm my muddled mind. The ascent was uneventful. Eventually after a day long trek, I reached the summit by early evening.
The sight that welcomed me was surreal. The beautiful imagery of that moment is still vividly etched in my mind. Its infinite and all-encompassing space was so gratifying. The tantalizing sunlight appeared to be giving a parting kiss, to the snow-clad peaks, embracing the horizon in a crimson blush. The white billowy clouds drifted gently in the purple heavens. The eventide mountain air whispered scattered tales from across the expansive skyline. The refreshing fragrance of their ethereal purity filled my senses. I sat there for hours as twilight faded into a duvet of inkiness. The glitterati of the dazzling stars shone their magical light on me. In solitude, amid the tranquil landscape, I soaked in its mesmerizing beauty and sacredness of God’s creation. Mother Nature lulled me to slumber on her lap, under her star-studded night sky.
Satiated with the abundance of nature’s energy, my soul drank in the divine elixir of this celestial experience. I was ready to take on the challenges of life ,with a resurgent spirit.

Her extended hours of training, hardly left Anita with any free time. But she didn’t mind that. An adventure junkie, living life on the edge, gave her an adrenaline. This time, she wanted to indulge in a passionate affair was with the muscular yet mesmerizing mountains. She was more than willing to give it her all, to be standing on top of his gigantic heights. It would be another item ticked from her bucket list of adventure series.
Finally after rigorous training for more than a year, the day of reckoning arrived. Away from the vale, at the base camp, Anita and her Sherpa were going through the final check list. Walking out of their tent, she inhaled a whiff of the cold air. Her eyes scanned the sky kissing rugged peaks. A tingle of sensations ran through her. The light grey skies didn’t seem threatening, as they started their ascent.
Half way up the ascent, the air became thinner and its iciness started to pierce the layers of her thermal clothing. Her boots were having a challenging time to get a good hold on the fresh snowfall which was ankle deep.
The outer layer of her suit was a little wet owing to the dampness in the wind. Sleets of ice, sharp like pine needles pierced her body. She tried to numb the pain, shifting her focus only on reaching the summit. Her breathing was now in short gasps. Undaunted she continued.
Finally, after a grueling 25 hour climb, she reached the peak. The breath-taking view of the serrated jagged peaks shrouded in a mystic cloak took her breath away. Though dressed in monochrome, yet their allure was hard to resist. The frosty blast of wind serenaded a cold symphony. From the dizzying heights, the world below appeared to be buried under duvet of white clouds.
Her soul brimmed with an ineffable euphoria, as she reflected on her journey to the top of the world. Mixed emotions permeated her senses as she screamed in jubilation, “I did it! “. With a prayer of gratitude, she marveled at the creator and the beauty of his magnificent creation.

Sharing a few pictures of the Mighty Himalayas on our visit to the holy shrine of Badrinath, a few years back. The spectacular scenic beauty enroute and the positive vibrations at the temple rejuvenated the body and soul.
“The magnificent mountains of the Himalayas soared up to the heavens to kiss it, the clouds whispering and caressing its high peaks. Serrated and snow-capped, these gigantic mountains were a sight to behold. The eyes admiring the pristine beauty in awe, the heart soaking in the pure energy of the tranquil atmosphere and the mind experiencing the spiritual bliss. The evening rays of the sun painting its peak to a golden blush. Standing in front of the majestic mountains felt like the eons of time stood still. ”
